Our Background
CISCOT was established in response to the growing need for civil society engagement in Uganda's transport sector governance and policy formulation.
Our Background
The Civil Society Coalition on Transport (CISCOT) Uganda was founded in 2013 as a coalition of civil society organizations advocating for improved transport governance in Uganda. It was established with initial support from the CROSS ROADS Programme funded by UK Aid.
CISCOT began with 18 institutional organizations and six individual members who recognized the need for a coordinated civil society voice in the transport sector. Over the years, the coalition has evolved into a registered NGO, contributing significantly to policy reform, road safety advocacy, and transport governance.
Our history is marked by a commitment to ensuring that transport infrastructure and services are developed in a transparent, accountable, and participatory manner, benefiting all Ugandans.
The coalition exists to make transport systems more transparent, more inclusive, and more accountable to the public interest.
